Truth or Tradition? Christians Who Don’t Celebrate Christmas

Heather Clark, Christian News Network — An increasing number of Christians state that they have decided to no longer celebrate Christmas. While they admit that their decision is often severely scorned by friends and family, and is seen as odd to many Christmas enthusiasts, they say that after doing research on its origins, the opposition from Christians throughout history and the general spirit of the popular holiday, they can no longer in good conscience worship God in this manner.

“As I began to dig into where [the holiday] came from, it bothered me,” said Pastor Jim Staley of Passion for Truth Ministries in St. Charles, Missouri. “The more that I began to study, the more that I began to compare Biblical truth versus tradition, the more I realized that none of the disciples celebrated any of the holidays that we have today.”

Richard Rives of Wyatt Archaeological Research in Cornersville, Tennessee told Christian News Network that his experience was similar.

“Basically, I just started researching these things,” he said, noting that he stopped celebrating 25 years ago. “What I found out was that December 25th was something that was in honor of the pagan sun gods and not Jesus Christ.”

“Once I learned these things, I didn’t want anything to do with it, because to take pagan precepts of worship and combine it with the worship of our Creator is in violation of the first four Commandments that teach us how to love the Lord,” Rives stated.

The Early Origins of Christmas

“Basically, it was associated with the Winter Solstice, and the sun worshipers would have a big festival when the sun would begin rising in the sky,” Rives explained, who operates Wyatt Museum in Tennessee, and is author of the book and DVD series Too Long in the Sun...

About Dr. J. Vernon McGee

John Vernon McGee was born in Hillsboro, Texas, in 1904. Dr. McGee remarked, "When I was born and the doctor gave me the customary whack, my mother said that I let out a yell that could be heard on all four borders of Texas!" His Creator well knew that he would need a powerful voice to deliver a powerful message.

After completing his education (including a Th.M. and Th.D. from Dallas Theological Seminary), he and his wife came west, settling in Pasadena, California. Dr. McGee's greatest pastorate was at the historic Church of the Open Door in downtown Los Angeles, where he served from 1949 to 1970.

If Obama is Opposed to Guns, Why Did His Administration Just Purchase 1.6 Billion Rounds of Ammunition and Sniper Rounds?

Mike Adams, The Health Ranger Editor, Natural News — In the aftermath of the recent Sandy Hook shooting, Obama and his cohorts are screaming about how they all despise guns and ammo. Guns are the problem in America today, we've been told from every corner of the media, and so the only solution is to get rid of all the guns.

But not exactly. There's one organization in America that's loading up on masses of assault rifles and enough ammunition to run a 10-year shooting war. That organization is, of course, the U.S. federal government and its Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which has purchased a total of 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition to be used domestically, inside the United States.

It begs the question: Why does the Department of Homeland Security -- named after Hitler's "Office of Fatherland Security" -- need 1.6 billion rounds of ammo?

Obama's Government Stockpiles Weapons of Mass Destruction

The DHS began all this in April of this year, with the purchase of 450 million rounds of hollow point .40 caliber ammunition. This is significant for two reasons:

1) DHS does not fight wars with foreign nations. It's entire theater of operations is on U.S. soil, dealing solely with the American people.

2) Hollow point ammunition is banned by the Geneva convention and is not used by the U.S. military. This ammunition can only be used domestically, in the United States, against U.S. targets or people.

Along with these 450 million rounds of ammunition, DHS also purchased $400,000 worth of radiation protection pills and thousands of bullet-proof roadside checkpoint booths. Is it expecting a radiological event? (Or perhaps planning one?)

These 450 million rounds of ammo, Natural News calculated, is enough to wage a 7-year war with the American people.

Nonsense. Most people have their taxes withheld gradually during the year. The president has the authority to instruct the U.S. Treasury to freeze withholding rates while the sides continue to negotiate. The Congressional Budget Office confirms it. So, don’t be a scrooge, Mr. President.

Obama is not the only one who deserves a lump of coal. So far, neither the president, his Democratic ally Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, nor Republican adversary Speaker of the House John Boehner has shown resolve to slow the nation’s out-of-control spending on borrowed money. All are willing to raise the debt ceiling again (the negotiation is only about how much and for how long), continue the borrowing, and stuff the IOUs in our children’s Christmas stockings.

Compare that to only $57.8 million the Brits shelled out for their royals, and you have to ask what is going on with President Obama. Now word comes that he and first lady Michelle, their two daughters, and Dog Bo will be spending an extended holiday vacation in Hawaii that will cost us taxpayers more than $4 million dollars. Double whammy, wow, over the top, beyond the pale, way too much vacation time, and much more.

But not to worry about the looming fiscal cliff, high unemployment rates, a constipated Congress, and a confused and hurting electorate. “The locals and other Americans will be paying for their vacation,” says The Hawaii Reporter. A large security team including US Secret Service, Coast Guard, Navy Seals, drivers, attendants and God knows who else will command a total of 22 vehicles. A commenter details the following list of costs: The US Air Force has listed the cost of travel as high as $181,757 per flight hour for the nine hour trip for a one way total of $1,635,813. A cargo plane will fly Obama’s 22 vehicles back and forth at another cost of $258,000, and locals are estimating that Oahu’s local security outlay could run as high as $250,000!

Where America’s Royals are staying will involve these vehicles having to wind through narrow one lane roads, further inconveniencing the population. But no matter: the President doesn’t have to worry about campaign rigors any more, and the first lady can relax after her exhausting, earlier vacations.

Can’t get much better than taking all of those trips on the taxpayer’s dime unless, of course, you happen to BE one of the lowly taxpayers. Spend now, spend a bunch, and let someone else pick up the tab describes Barack Obama’s idea of retail therapy as the nation stares headlong over the fiscal cliff. And taxpayers can undoubtedly expect big hikes in the coming year. Each citizen carries $150,000 of indebtedness as a result of Barack and Co’s trillion dollar per year spending spree.
