Pastor Andrew Russell preaches on Colossians 1:19-23 and explains what reconciliation to God really means. If there is to be reconciliation between God and man, the initiative and action must come from God. These false teachers in Colosse said that the angels could in some way bring men closer to God. But it was only through the blood of Christ that peace was made between God and man (Colossians 1:19-20). Religion is man seeking God; Christianity is God seeking man (2 Corinthians 5:18-20). Christ has reconciled you to God through His death, in order to present you holy and faultless and innocent in the Father’s presence (Colossians 1:22). You must stay deeply rooted and firm in your faith and you must not give up the hope you received when you heard the good news. Paul concludes by saying, it was preached to everyone on this earth, and I myself have become a servant of this message (Colossians 1:23).
