The Jewish State: Why Is Humanity Fixated On This Small Sliver Of Land In The Middle East

Including Judea and Samaria (also known as the West Bank), Israel occupies only 10,000 square miles in a Middle East region of 8.4 million square miles. Yet in the news and in the minds of humanity, the nation of Israel looms large.
Most people in the world do not have passionate feelings about the people of Portugal, Austria, Hungary, or other people groups in nations with population sizes similar to that of Israel. But it’s hard to be neutral about Israel or the Jews. Winston Churchill said, “Some people like the Jews, and some do not. But no thoughtful man can deny the fact that they are, beyond any question, the most formidable and the most remarkable race which has appeared in the world.”
Think about why that might be. The Bible says that God chose Israel for certain purposes. Isaiah 43:10-11 says, “‘You are My witnesses,’ says the Lord, ‘And My servant whom I have chosen, That you may know and believe Me, And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, Nor shall there be after Me. I, even I, am the Lord, And besides Me there is no savior.’”
Have the children of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob always been faithful witnesses for the one, true God? Like other members of the human race, their story is one of repeated failure. Even today, the society of Israel fiercely advocates for a plethora of unbiblical things. And then there’s Jesus. Though there are many individual Jews who recognize the Lordship of Christ, as a people they have consistently rejected Him.
But God is not finished with the Jews. Romans 11:26 says, “All Israel will be saved.”

The continued use of paper-based payments by the Federal Government, including checks and money orders, flowing into and out of the United States General Fund, which might be thought of as America’s bank account, imposes unnecessary costs; delays; and risks of fraud, lost payments, theft, and inefficiencies. Mail theft complaints have increased substantially since the COVID-19 pandemic. Historically, Department of the Treasury checks are 16 times more likely to be reported lost or stolen, returned undeliverable, or altered than an electronic funds transfer (EFT). Maintaining the physical infrastructure and specialized technology for digitizing paper records cost the American taxpayer over $657 million in Fiscal Year 2024 alone. This order promotes operational efficiency by mandating the transition to electronic payments for all Federal disbursements and receipts by digitizing payments to the extent permissible under applicable law (but not, for avoidance of doubt, to establish a Central Bank Digital Currency).

Review:This is an outstanding production. For those who only know Dean Jones from the Disney pictures (The Love Bug, Shaggy D.A., That Darn Cat, etc.) and such, here is a role for the actor that provides an opportunity for him to reveal both his tremendous dramatic talent and his deep Christian faith. Although some may say it is a little slow moving (perhaps because it is a recording of a stage performance at Jack Hayford's Church on the Way), the story is excellently written and has real depth. The production makes good use of various camera angles as well as creative lighting to add drama to the presentation. You find yourself quickly drawn into the story as Jones powerfully brings St. John to life, recounting, from his cell on the isle of Patmos, his journey with Jesus and the other disciples. A real tour de force performance by Jones (in the tradition of such one-man shows as Hal Holbrook's Mark Twain or James Whitmore's Harry Truman) makes this a DVD worth watching by anyone who appreciates a magnificent performance from an incredible actor and one that should definitely be in every Christian's collection.
